Minnesota National Bank to Offer EMV Chip "Smart" Cards

Minnesota National Bank to Offer EMV Chip "Smart" Cards

As your Minnesota National Bank debit card expires you will be issued an EMV chip debit card via the mail. This new technology for debit and credit cards is often referred to as “smart card” or “chip card.” If you would like an EMV chip card before your card expires, call any of our offices and speak with a personal banker to request an EMV chip card.

The benefit of EMV chip cards is added security.  It’s virtually impossible for thieves to replicate the card.  If you are unsure if a terminal is EMV chip enabled, you can swipe the card first. If the terminal is chip enabled you will be prompted to insert the card into the terminal. The new cards will work for both signature and pin transactions.

Watch for information in the near future as we will be issuing debit cards instantly at our Minnesota National Bank offices. These cards will offer a variety of designs.
