Switch Your Accounts in Just 5 Easy Steps!

1. Open your new account - Stop by any branch to open a Minnesota National Bank checking or savings account that fits your needs. Need help? Bring your account information from your current bank to any of our offices and we will help you make the switch.

2. Balance and discontinue using your old account - Use the Balance Worksheet included in our switch kit to help you.

3. Switch your direct deposits - Notify any companies you currently have direct deposits set up with (use the form in our switch kit). These may include:

  • Payroll deposits
  • Government deposits (i.e. social secruity, pensions, retirements)
  • Brokerage deposits (i.e. dividents, interest)
  • Transfers from other financial institutions
  • Child support or other court-issued deposits
4. Switch your automatic transactions - Notify any companies you currently have automatic bill pay set up with (use the form in our switch kit). These may include:
  • Utilities (i.e. gas, electric, phone, water, cable, trash, church)
  • Loans (i.e. mortgages, car, home equuity, credit cards)
  • Brokerage (i.e. automatic investments)
  • Transfers from other financial institutions
  • Child support or other court-issued deposits
  • Insurance
Don’t forget about those that use your old debit card number, such as automatic payments made on-line.


5. Close your old account - Stop using your old account and allow up to 10 days for checks to clear. Send in the form to close your old account. No face-to-face needed. If, after all your checks have cleared, you have a remaining balance, your old bank will send you a check.
